A biodiesel leader
Channel BioRefinery & Terminals, a subsidiary of BioFuels Development International, is one the nation’s largest biodiesel refineries and bulk liquid storage facilities. Located on 22 acres just north of Houston’s Ship Channel, the CB&T facility utilizes state-of-the-art technology to produce up to 75 million gallons of biodiesel fuel and more than 120 million pounds of by-product per year. The facility features terminal storage for to 400,000 barrels as well as throughput operations.
Retrofit for the future
Channel BioRefinery & Terminals is retrofitting its Greens Bayou plant and anticipates restarting the facility in Q3 2013 as a world-class, multi-feedstock biodiesel plant. Initially the facility will produce 33 millions gallons of B100 per year, while phasing up to 75 million gallons by 2017. Future plans call for a rail loading and unloading facility to support both the biodiesel and storage businesses.
It takes a team to smoothly and efficiently operate Channel BioRefinery & Terminals. Our executive team was carefully structured to comprise business leaders with decades of combined experience in the biodiesel, energy and chemical sectors of the economy. Once the facility is fully operational, CB&T will run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (except for planned outages) with 30 employees—including engineers, operators, technicians and staff–working a continuous, four-shift schedule.
